A pedestrian walking along U.S. Highway 19 south of Chiefland suffered critical injuries when he was struck by a sedan at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Oscar Ramirez, 42, of Chiefland, was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
According to the report by FHP Trooper M.D. Geoffroy, Ramirez was walking south along US 19 near the white edge line. The portion of U.S. 19 was not lighted.
