Strengthen your community through blood donation

-A A +A

The strength of a community depends on its health, and its health partially depends on an adequate blood supply. Chiefland community invites residents to do their part to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply for the community when they team up with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers to host a blood drive on Friday, May 24.

Stop by the bloodmobile at Walmart in Chiefland between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.; or at LifeSouth’s Chiefland Donor Center between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and make a contribution that can save up to three lives in local hospitals. Chiefland Donor Center is located in the Winn-Dixie Plaza on North Highway 19 across from Walmart on Highway 19.

The bloodmobile will also be on location at the Chiefland Watermelon Festival on Saturday, June 1. Please stop by and give that special gift that can mean so much to another person.

Donors are asked to eat a healthy meal, particularly breakfast, and drink plenty of fluids before donating. All donors will receive a recognition item and a complimentary cholesterol screening. Donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more, and show a valid photo I.D. at the time of donation. Sixteen-year-old donors must have written parental consent to donate.
