An Old Town man was killed after his motorcycle was rear-ended and pushed for 300 feet on U.S. Highway 19 south of Chiefland on Monday at 8 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Marvin Hancock, 58, was pronounced dead at 11:22 p.m.
Hancock was riding his 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the northbound outside lane when Imogene Swafford, 50 of Old Town, approached him from behind in a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. Swafford did not notice the motorcycle ahead of her and struck it from behind pushing it over 300 feet. Hancock came to rest on the grass shoulder on the east side while his bike tumbled through the median and across the southbound lanes before stopping on the west shoulder.
Swafford's vehicle went onto the median and stopped over 600 feet from the point of contact.
The report prepared by Cpl. W. Dill notes charges are pending, the results of a blood alcohol test is pending for Swafford, and it is unknown  whether Hancock was wearing a helmet.
