There's a big difference between varsity and junior varsity.

Forced to play up a notch because of player suspensions, the Chiefland High JVs are speeding up a sharp learning curve.

Playing their second game as varsity Tuesday night, Jan. 15, the little Indians fell behind host Trenton by a bunch early but then rebounded to play a respectable brand of ball in the second half.

Coach Mark Lundy had to be pleased with the boys'progress in a 57-28 setback.

Trenton improved its record to 7-11. Chiefland fell to 7-12.

In their first outing on the varsity level on Jan. 11, the Chiefland JVs lost by 46 points to Dixie County.

This time, they were much more competitive. In fact, the "running clock"never came into play.

A running clock is employed when a team leads another by 35 points.

The first quarter against Trenton was pretty bleak. The Indians had some quality looks, but they wouldn't go down.

After the first eight minutes, Trenton had built a 22-3 advantage. Bryant Cowan tallied the Tigers'first eight points. He ended up with 10 points in the session. Cam Cross added six points.
