Finish now before rigorous standards begin in January

The College of Central Florida Levy Center will host Finish Up! Levy, information sessions on Wednesday, May 29, at Levy County Public Libraries for upcoming General Education Development boot camp classes.

The sessions will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the five Levy County Public Libraries. The CF Levy Center has partnered with the Levy County Public Library System to sponsor Finish Up! Levy. The information sessions will present facts on when boot camp classes will be held, how the GED exam is offered, assistance with completing applications and answers to questions regarding adult education classes in Levy County.

The boot camp classes are designed to assist individuals in refreshing their math and reading skills in an effort to pass the GED exam. In January 2014, the GED exam will be changing. Students who have taken parts of the exam but have not completed it, will lose their scores as of Dec. 31. Those desiring to obtain a GED certificate are encouraged to “finish up!”

The adult education program at Levy Center prepares individuals who have not completed their high school education with the necessary skills to pass the five sections of the GED: mathematics, reading, science, social studies and writing.

The CF Levy Center offers many learning opportunities in friendly, student-centered, direct instruction classrooms with flexible hours and online services to fit all schedules. Adult education services have minimal fees for Florida residents.

For more information on the Finish Up! Levy program and other adult education opportunities, visit the Levy Center at 114 Rodgers Blvd. in Chiefland or call 352-493-9533.
