Hodge announces for school board

-A A +A

Hello my name is Sandra Worthington Hodge and I am excited to announce that I am campaigning for the seat of the Levy County School Board, District 2.  I believe that I have the dedication, compassion and experience that make me a highly qualified candidate to serve on our school board. I am a firm believer in the education of our children and supporting our school system. I would like to be given the opportunity to serve on the School Board for Levy County.  I feel that my strong ties to this community are important to be a dedicated school board member.  I feel that our teachers, staff, parents and students deserve a new voice to advocate on their behalf regarding any issues that need to be addressed before our school board.
I would like to share some things about my background with you, so that you can get to know me and my family better.  I grew up and have lived in Levy County all of my life and feel that I have strong community ties and involvement throughout our community. I graduated from Chiefland High School in 1980. I have been married to my husband, Tim Hodge for 20 years.  Together we have a 14-year-old son, Dalton that attends Chiefland Middle School.  My husband and I have been involved with CAAA in our community with Dalton at an early age.  My son is involved in school sports, FFA and Suwannee River Livestock Fair. I have two daughters, Brittany and Bridgett Hodge and four grandchildren.  My parents are the late Fred and Esther Worthington, which owned Fred’s BP for 30 years.  My mother, Esther worked for Levy County School system for 20 years and was a very dedicated employee to the school system. I have been a member of Concord Baptist Church   most of my life.
I received my Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Saint Leo University.  I have many years of work experience in different fields and years of experience working with children and parents. I am currently employed with the Department of Children and Families as a Child Protective Investigator.  Working in this field I have experienced working with children, parents, schools and hearing everyday concerns in our school systems.  This experience has given me the opportunity to understand how important it is that our school systems need a firm voice to stand up and speak out for concerns throughout our schools.
I believe that I have the qualities to be an effective School board member, which are entrusted to set the policies of our local public elementary, middle and high schools. I believe that the school is the heart and soul of every community.  Having friends and family that work in the school system I have heard lots of concerns throughout our community.  I would like to be given the opportunity to serve on this board and I am determined to make a difference in our school system.

My husband and I are very excited about campaigning in our community.
