Go nuts in Williston at the 29th Annual Peanut Festival

-A A +A

Autumn may be designated as Sept. 22 on a calendar but in Williston, it’s not official until the opening of the Peanut Festival, held this year Saturday, Oct. 7.

The 29th Annual North Central Florida Peanut Festival, sponsored by the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce, promises to be loaded with vendors and entertainment throughout the day.

The festival pays homage to one of Williston’s major crops – the peanut, whose season runs from mid-August until late October.

Besides peanuts and a variety of food items, there will be crafts, jewelry, homemade clothing and plants for sale.

The festival also hosts a Little Peanut King & Queen and a Baby Peanut contest.

The Peanut Festival runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Entertainment will be in the main pavilion, but the Clover Squares will also perform in the smaller gazebo in the north end of the park.
