Williston festival on Saturday

By Carolyn Ten Broeck

Get ready for everything peanut this Saturday when the 27th Annual Central Florida Peanut Festival takes over Williston's Heritage Park.

The festival features a variety of foods and assorted types of peanuts and peanut products, including the famous (while they last) grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Rides, music, crafts, and antique tractors, car clubs and motorcycles will also be here for your enjoyment.

Butch Batts and the Southbound Band will be the featured entertainment. Mr. Peanut and the Peanut Mobile from Planters Peanuts will be a part of this year’s festivities.

The festival also has a Little Peanut King & Queen and a Baby Peanut Contest. Applications are available at the Chamber of Commerce, 607 SW 1st. Ave. and will be accepted until 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2.

The Peanut Festival runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Come early and participate in the Williston Rotary Club’s 3rd annual Purple Pinkie Peanut Run which will kick off the day of fun. Entertainment will be at both ends of the park so no matter where you are you will be able to enjoy great music.
