The Chiefland Rookie CAAA (Chiefland Area Athletic Association) All-Star Team has qualified for the state tournament and will be traveling to West Palm Gardens July 4-7 in hopes of bringing home a title.

The team qualified for the state tournament after taking second place in the regional tournament this past weekend in Lake City.

Members of the Rookie All-Star Team include, front from left: Markeinis Brown, Klayton Coulter, Kyle Stewart, Casey Williams, Joe Simpson and Trevor Gulledge. Middle from left: Wade Gore, Wyatt Mitchell, Logan Pate, Keaton DeWees, Alexander Topping and Saia Wilson. Back, from left: coaches Nick Brown, Joe Simpson and Shane Stewart.

In an effort to fund the team’s trip to the state tournament, three fund raisers have been planned.

On Monday, June 24, there will be a cake and pie auction at the Chiefland Middle/High School cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m.

On Thursday, June 27, Beef O’Bradys will be hosting a Spirit Night with a live band and a portion of the proceeds going to the team.

The final fundraiser is July 1 when Ada Blue Cafe in Cedar Key will be donating meals which the team will be selling tickets for at $8 each. Flyers will posted around town describing the meal and 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward funding the team’s trip.
