Dixie County comes to Bronson Friday

By Sean Arnold

The Bronson football team bounced back from a tough first half to get within striking distance in the fourth quarter against Hawthorne Friday, before the Hornets secured a 28-18 victory at home.

The Eagles continue to show improvement, but Coach Curtis Stacy isn’t interested in morale victories.

The shape of the game was a reversal for Bronson, which was a better first-half team in its preseason classic and opener, before succumbing late. This time, BMHS turned around its fortunes in the third quarter, after a suffering a blocked punt and a couple turnovers in the opening half. Bronson trailed just 22-18 midway through the fourth quarter.

“We made a ballgame of it in the third,” Stacy said, “but we didn’t make the right adjustments and do what we needed to do to move the football in the fourth quarter, and it cost us the game. We had the ball a couple of times with an opportunity to drive it down to take a lead and we’d either have a penalty or something else.”
