Bronson council seeks interns to run recreation

The Bronson Youth League may be on its way out.
The Bronson Town Council voted unanimously Monday night to allow staff to negotiate with the University of Florida in hopes of securing interns from the school to help manage a proposed Bronson Sports and Recreation Department.
“Do council agree that we need our own recreation department?" asked Mayor Beatrice Roberts, "And do workers agree?"
“It's too many chiefs and not enough indians," Council Member Berlon Weeks said of the BYL.
“If Bronson decides to make its own rec. department, the Youth League goes away," he said, later adding that though the town had no authority to dismantle the league, it wouldn't have any fields to play on.
Youth League member Charlie Kennedy spearheaded the deal with a UF sports management professor after being asked by the council to check into the matter at a council meeting a few weeks ago.
At that meeting, Kennedy told the council that the BYL board members were not adhering to the league's by-laws and that the league was disorganized.
