Bronson clerk quits

BRONSON - Donna Conquest enjoyed her job as Bronson's Town Clerk.

For five years, she faithfully served the town and its people, performing a variety of tasks from taking water payments and answering questions from the public to balancing the budget books.

But everybody apparently has their breaking point.

Tired of accusations and personal attacks levied at her by two town council members and the fire chief in front of the public at monthly meetings over the past year, Conquest decided she had enough.

Conquest turned in a letter of resignation to Mayor Franklin Schuler at Tuesday night's town council meeting.

"To go through this every month wears on you," Conquest said after the meeting. "With my experience, I can find another job tomorrow. I could come back some day if things change."

Conquest stands proud of the work she did for the town and said the continual verbal assaults were out of line, unprofessional and uncalled for.

In her letter, Conquest stated that "the town's financial affairs are in order."

She served two weeks notice in her letter, but would be immediately turning the financial books over to Schuler.
