    Chiefland’s football team will play its annual spring blue-gold game on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at C. Doyle McCall Field at Wayne Pridgeon Stadium in Chiefland.

  • Cappy's Corner: Living for...

    With scholastic sports over, the B section of the Chiefland Citizen is changing from "sports" to "living," beginning with this week's edition.
    No, that does not mean we're forgetting about sports all together. It only means we're shifting our focus a bit for the next few months of summer to activities of all kinds, even the kinds where scores are not kept.
    Now, don't expect this section to turn overnight into pages ripped out of Martha Stewart's Living magazine, although readers may see us tackle gardening and cooking from time-to-time.

  • CHS to form basketball booster...

    Supporters of the Chiefland High School basketball programs are trying to form a booster club called the Chiefland High School Tip-Off Club. There's even a Facebook fan page, started by Bobby Schultz.
    "We are in the organization stage of it," said Schultz, who has children who play basketball. "We're trying to get it started by the end of the summer. Once we get it off the ground, we will sit down with the coaches to see what they need to help make the programs even more successful."

  • Chiefland hosting 3-on-3 tourney...

    The Chiefland basketball program is hosting a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and three-point shootout on July 16 at the Chiefland High School and Middle School gyms. Registration begins at 8 a.m., games start at 9 a.m., and the three-point contest will take place around noon.

     The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is offering two free hunter safety Internet-completion courses in Levy County. The first class is May 17-18 in Bronson, and the second class in May 21 in Chiefland.

    Tune in Sunday from 1-2 p.m. to “FLW Outdoors” on VERSUS for complete coverage of the National Guard FLW College Fishing National Championship on Kentucky Lake. The one-hour show highlights the University of Florida’s second consecutive national championship victory.

  • CHS offers volleyball camp

     The Chiefland High School volleyball team is hosting volleyball camp for children ages 7-13. The camp is from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the high school gym and the dates for this year's camps are June 13-17 and June 27-July 1.
