The Chiefland Women’s Golf Association played a game on Oct. 26, 2011, where prizes were awarded to the Low Gross winner and Low Net winner in each of the three flights.  Prizes are also awarded to players who have chip-ins during their rounds.

  • Dixie County sacks Chiefland...

After almost 46 minutes of little to cheer about other than Shelby Mills being crowned Homecoming Queen, Chiefland fans were throwing both arms into the air, clapping and yelling wildly and even ringing a cow bell. They finally had something to cheer about after a late Indians touchdown in Friday’s 28-8 loss against Dixie County in Wayne Pridgeon Stadium.

  • District Disappointment

Chiefland High volleyball players quietly wiped away tears and gathered up their belongings as Union County celebrated winning the Class 1A, District 7 Championship with a 3-1 victory against the Lady Indians in Newberry on Thursday night.

After rolling through the regular season unbeaten in district play and even avenging its only two nonconference losses by beating Trenton and Williston, top-seeded Chiefland (15-3 overall) seemed poised to take its first district volleyball title.

The Chiefland Women’s Golf Association played the second round of their “Eclectic” Tournament on Oct. 19, 2011.  The lowest score on each hole of both rounds was used, less full handicap, to determine the winners of this two round competition.

  • Davis talks about 'The Putt...

Quotes from Alden Davis were left out of a story that ran on the front page about the Chiefland golf team winning the district tournament last week in Gainesville. Davis sank a six-foot putt on No. 18 to lift his team to the program’s first golf district title in years, if not ever.

  • Fire-less Williston stops...

Williston coach Jamie Baker had trouble getting his team fired up to play winless Chiefland before Friday's battle for the Levy Cup trophy.

Chiefland coach Jim O'Neal had trouble trying to keep his team punched in when the Red Devils began pulling away en route to a 42-13 victory in Wayne Pridgeon Stadium.

"We're Chiefland! Play like Chiefland!" O'Neal shouted to his players late in the third quarter.

  • 'Silly' Lady Braves...

Chiefland Middle School’s volleyball team needed just 42 minutes to defeat Lake Butler 2-0 to win the Suwannee Middle School Athletic Conference championship in Lake Butler on Thursday.

The post-game celebration included smiles and high-fives, but nothing too crazy like one might expect after a team wins a league title. Because the Lady Braves (14-1) are so dominant, they expect to win.

In fact, they weren’t even nervous before the biggest game of their season.

  • CHS golfers finished fourth

Chiefland’s golf team came away with a fourth place finish in Monday’s regional tournament in Jacksonville.
