From his early years of baseball in Bronson to his upcoming adventures in college, one thing won't change for Bronson's Jimmy Jones III: He'll remain an Eagle.
The Bronson native, though attending St. Francis High School in Gainesville where he played for the Wolves the last few years, signed a letter of intent to play baseball for the Eagles at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Thursday.
"He stood out far above any players in our camp," Embry-Riddle Head Baseball Coach Randy Stegall said to the crowd in attendance.

  • Indians play for regional title...

The Chiefland Indians boys basketball team defeated the Wildwood Wildcats 78-60 on Tuesday night before a standing room only crowd.

It was a hotly contested game that ended pretty calmly with a surprise move as the team ran out the last minute of the clock. An Indians player at mid-court got the ball and simply stood still for the last 7 seconds frustrating any chance of the Wildwood team making points.

The Indians will face the Crescent City Raiders on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Chiefland Middle High School Gym. Tickets for the game are $7.
