Every team covets that first win of the season, even more so when you play your county rival in a game that hasn’t been played in 10 years.

“ Our kids took a lot of pride, they wanted to send a message that they’re a team to be reckoned with especially in the county,” said third-year coach Aaron Richardson. Needless to say, the win was earned and the message delivered as Chiefland took care of Bronson Friday night winning 42-14.

  • Bronson looks to build new...

Coach Cameron Porch is in his third year of rebuilding the Bronson Eagles and he is ready for the state playoffs.

Porch is fielding a strong team with 16 seniors on his 33-man squad and most have been with the Porch for the past 3 years. “A lot of those seniors have played the whole time I was there — a dozen have been with us the whole time,” Porch said.

“I hope we're ready,” Porch said of the coming season.

  • Friday's Game

The Student Government has declared Friday, Aug. 29, a "White Out."

Kickoff 7:30 p.m. at Wayne Pridgeon Stadium in Chiefland.

  • Building a Dynasty

The Chiefland Indians are continuing their rebuilding from a couple of dismal seasons in the early part of this decade and the future looks bright.

Coach Aaron Richardson and his staff have 37 players on the roster, including 10 seniors returning from a 7-3 season and finishing third in district play in 2013.

Last year, the team averaged 27.2 points per game. And they posted their second in-a-row win against the Williston Red Devils to retain ownership of the Levy Classic Cup.

After losing 16 seniors from last year’s team, the 2014 Chiefland Indians entered a preseason game with the Bell Bulldogs with many question marks. It’s safe to say some were answered Friday night with the Indians easily taking care of Bell 39-7.

Right, water. It is hot out there.
