  • Funny car driver visits Thursday

    The National Hit Rod Association driver Ron Capps, who drives the NAPA Auto Parts Dodge Charger, will visit the Chiefland NAPA store on Thursday, March 14 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. 

    Capps is currently No. 1 in the NHRA funny car standings this season after finishing just 2 points behind the winner in 2012. It was his fourth 2nd place finish. 

    He will be available to sign autographs and there will be door prizes and food. The store is located at 1512 N.W. 5th St.

  • Georgia rains continue to raise...

    Most river gauges on Georgia tributaries to the Suwannee River have crested after back-to-back storms earlier in February, the Suwannee River Water Management District reports. Some tributaries have fallen after cresting earlier in the week, but minor flooding is forecast for the Suwannee River at Ellaville, and Dowling Park could crest at least two foot above flood stage by the weekend. The rising Suwannee will cause a backwater flood on the lower Santa Fe.

  • CHS softball tryouts wrap up...

    Wayne Weatherford is returning as softball coach for the 2013 Chiefland High School girls softball team and he will start having tryouts on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 3:30 p.m.  Joining Weatherford on the coaching staff are Whitney Mills and Brian Gore. Gina Mills will also return as the team's records keeper. 

    Tryouts will continue at the same time on Wednesday, Jan. 9, and Thursday, Jan. 10. Weatherford said he expects to have a team roster ready by Friday.

  • Patsy Sheppard wins CWGA...

    The Chiefland Women’s Golf Association hosted a five week tournament, beginning on October 31st.  This is a double elimination format of Match Play golf, where the contestants use their handicaps to equalize the matches.  Every player gets to lose two matches before being eliminated.
