By MARILEE LEONARD Chiefland’s Women’s Golf Association   The Chiefland Women’s Golf Association played the second round of their “Eclectic” Tournament on Oct. 19, 2011.  The lowest score on each hole of both rounds was used, less full handicap, to determine the winners of this two round competition.

Almost 14 years after leading the school to a state championship, Jarret Johnson returned to Chiefland High to help coach youth ages 9-14 at the Suwannee All-Skillz Football Camp. Johnson, a starting linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, said he’s passed through Chiefland often on his way to visit family in Cedar Key, where he was raised. However, he hadn't made his presence known until Saturday's camp at C. Doyle McCall Field.

The Chiefland Women's Golf Association hosted its annual Ladies Invitational Tournament on April 6 at the Chiefland Golf and Country Club. We had 47 women competing from as far away as Brooksville and Palatka. The greens superintendent and his crew worked hard cleaning up the course after the winds and rain that hit Central Florida on Tuesday. Our president, Freida Martin, deserves a lot of credit for her work in guiding all of us in the various duties that it takes to have a successful tournament. 

One says he did. He says he didn't, and he has the video to prove it. An altercation at a semi-professional football game on Saturday has resulted in a head coach's resignation and a football team changing names. It may even lead to an arrest.
