The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

"Barefoot in the Park" opens Friday

Barefoot in the Park, a Neil Simon play, opens its two-weekend run on Friday, May 10, at the Chief Theater in Chiefland. The Suwannee Valley Players have a special ticket deal for the Mother’s Day performance on Sunday, May 12, at 2:30 p.m. that includes admission to the play and a full buffet luncheon at The Gathering Table restaurant in Chiefland prior to show. Tickets at $20 each must be purchased in advance from a ticket outlet or by calling 352-493-ARTS.

Chiefland pitbull ruled dangerous

After months of reports that pitbulls have been roaming the streets of Chiefland attacking residents, commissioners Monday night voted unanimously to deem at least one of the dogs dangerous.

Court dispositions published May 16

n Timothy Wade Arnold, driving while license revoked for habitual traffic offenses and failing to leave information on unattended vehicle with damage, nolle pros; battery, 12 months probation. Must pay probation cost.

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

Bronson man accepts 5-year plea in burglary

Bronson resident Timothy L. Cobb, 40, on May 8, accepted a court-negotiated plea for five years imprisonment on charges dealing with burglaries and thefts in Bronson, according to the Levy County Sheriff's Office.

   Cobb was arrested in February in connection with a string of burglaries after a two month investigation by the sheriff's office. Cobb, who has a long history with the sheriff's office, had recently been released from his third stint in prison, according to LCSO.

Participants sought in Summer Food program

Operating under the auspices of the School Board of Levy County, the Food, Nutrition and Wellness Program will once again be sponsoring a Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) for children in Levy County – age 18 and under.  

Commission rejects alcohol ordinance change

Responding to public pressure to not make changes in the hours alcoholic beverages are sold, the Levy County Commission decided Tuesday night to let the current ordinance stand.

Birds of a feather

Max Rittgers, co-owner of the Dakota Winery, in Chiefland, holds onto a pair a week-old American wood ducklings Tuesday morning.

The birds were hatched at the winery.
