The low pressure area in the Gulf of Mexico that has brought spotty rains to the area is getting more organized and the National Weather Service at Ruskin has issued several notices of foul weather that will affect Levy County residents for today and the rest of the week.

In a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Southwestern and Western Central Florida the NWS is calling for widely scattered thunderstorms becoming more numerous by this evening and overnight, especially near the coast.

Officials in Georgia say it's not likely rain from Tropical Storm Andrea will cause another sewage spill such as the one seen at the end of February.
"The river levels are pretty low right now," Sementha Mathews, spokesperson for the City of Valdosta, said Thursday afternoon."We don't expect too much rain, maybe 3 to 5 inches."
Valdosta runs two wastewater plants, though the biggest is the Withlacoochee River Water Pollution Control Plant, which in February was flooded by massive amounts of water from the nearby Withlacoochee River.

A Morriston man is dead and a Williston woman is hospitalized with serious injuries after a crash on Wednesday shortly before 11 p.m. on State Road 121 south of County Road 464, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

Brian Rodgers, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene by Levy County Emergency Medical Service personnel.

A hazardous weather outlook issued Tuesday for Southwest and Central Florida, includes Levy County , the Suwannee River and coastal waters.

The outlook was issued by the National Weather Service in Ruskin.

Showers and some thunderstorms are predicted for today (Tuesday) and while none are expected to be severe they will contain lightning.
