     I agree with Elaine Padilla, (Letter To The Editor, Feb. 10)! As the song goes, “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!”

    The Tarmac Mine, approximate elevation 6-7 feet on the Gulf side and 16-17 feet on the east end, sits within the hurricane-surge reach and evacuation  zone of a Category 2 and higher storm.  Fifty-Two major hurricanes or storms  have directly impacted upon Levy County, an average of 3.21 per year, from 1842 through 2009.

    Last Thursday night, Nature Coast Business Development Council, in conjunction with the College of Central Florida, Workforce Connection, Progress Energy, The University of Central Florida and Fairfield Index, Inc., presented an Economic Development Summit to 71 people at the Bronson High School Cafeteria. Speaking were Dr. Tom O'Neal of GrowFL at UCF and Don Upton, president of Fairfield Index, Inc. Dr. O'Neal spoke on economic gardening and business incubation while Mr. Upton followed with some ideas on how to build on Team Levy Concepts in our changing economy.

     As an individual who is deeply concerned about the humane treatment and care of pets, I must admit it angers me  greatly to see an animal tied to a short chain and not given any consideration during this time of extremely cold and or rainy weather.
