Mr. Ten Broeck ( Citizen General Manager),

  • Neglected pooches

In response to the letter to the editor concerning dogs being tied to a rope or chain and left out in all weather.

  • Confused about Rosewood

  • Economic summit a success

Last Thursday night, Nature Coast Business Development Council, in conjunction with the College of Central Florida, Workforce Connection, Progress Energy, The University of Central Florida and Fairfield Index, Inc., presented an Economic Development Summit to 71 people at the Bronson High School Cafeteria. Speaking were Dr. Tom O'Neal of GrowFL at UCF and Don Upton, president of Fairfield Index, Inc. Dr. O'Neal spoke on economic gardening and business incubation while Mr. Upton followed with some ideas on how to build on Team Levy Concepts in our changing economy.

  • Participation is key

President Ronald Reagan said “Government is like a baby…. A big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other”. The Levy County Board of County Commissioners are working hard to change that.

  • Dog's treatment bothers conscience

As an individual who is deeply concerned about the humane treatment and care of pets, I must admit it angers me  greatly to see an animal tied to a short chain and not given any consideration during this time of extremely cold and or rainy weather.

  • Where was the help?

This weekend a tragedy occurred in Tucson, Arizona. Six persons were shot  and 14 others were wounded by a deranged individual. We witnessed the tragedy, we heard the interviews and the nation is in shock. After listening to many media reports it is very plain to see this individual reached out in many ways to get the help that he needed.  I ask where were the people who could have prevented this terrible event from happening?

  • A word on local politics
  • Surprised about Rosewood

I was surprised to read that Dr. Marvin Dunn plans to go ahead with his Rosewood event even though the Levy County Commissioners denied his petition for a special event’s permit.  Many events are held in Levy County each year and the sponsors of those events have no difficulty applying for and providing the county with all required information to ensure a safe environment for all involved.
