  • Bronson Town Council - looking sharp and working hard

    Looking spiffy in their new polo shirts that sported the Town of Bronson emblem, the City Council met Monday night to work through a long agenda.
    It was their first meeting since late September when they held several meetings to pass the budget for the fiscal year that started Oct. 1.

    Notes from Monday's Town Council meeting:
    n Honors come town's way
    Several miscellaneous issues kept the Bronson Town Council busy Tuesday night, but the high point was the presentation of the Community of Excellence award from the Suwannee River League of Cities.
    Town Clerk, Kelli Brettell publicly presented the crystal award that she and Council member Berlon Weeks picked up at the group's October meeting in Cedar Key.

  • Barron earns acheivements

     Justin Barron, a service technician at White Ford in Chiefland, earned two notable accomplishments in the 2010 Masters Program. He earned an Engine Master status, which includes the Engine Plaque, 2010 Ingot, Master Technician Hat and 2010 Master Technician magnet. Justin is one of 261 technicians in the Orlando Region to hold the status. He also earned a Chassis Master status, which includes a 2010 Ingot and 2010 Master Technician magnet. He is one of 313 technicians in the region to earn the status.

     The 2010 Chiefland Christmas Festival & Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 in downtown Chiefland at the historic train depot, Trailhead Park and the surrounding area on U.S. Highway 19 South.

  • Engagement: Leonard-Hill

     Mr. and Mrs. Regay and Thomas Herrin, of Bell, would like to announce the engagement of their daughter, Savannah Yvonne Leonard, also of Bell, to Matthew Garrett Hill, of Trenton.

    Leonard has a degree in applied kinesiology and exercise science from the University of Florida.  She graduated form Bell High School.  Hill graduated from Bronson High School.  Their wedding is set for Nov. 6, 2010.

  • Birthday reception to honor Dogan S. Cobb's 100th

     Everyone is invited to attend a reception in honor of Dogan S. Cobb’s 100th birthday on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bronson in the Fellowship Hall.  Cake and punch will be served.

  • Chiefland Fire Rescue teaches kids about fire safety

     In October, members of Chiefland Fire Rescue visited several schools and children's organizations in an effort to educate children about fire safety and prevention.  More than 1,000 children, ranging in age from 5 to 9, were visited by CFR.  Educational topics included knowing how to dial 911 in an emergency, devising an escape plan and the importance of not playing with fire.
