    From the moment I heard about this job, I've been hearing about Chiefland’s Jamantye Thompson. 

    To check out the paper, I went where anybody else would look first, chieflandcitizen.com.

    "Jumpin' Jamantye" was the first headline to catch my eye. Then another on Thompson, and another, and another. Perusing printed archives after getting the gig, and the senior tailback’s pictures were plastered across the pages.

  • Tuesday County Commission meeting draws attention

    A Levy County Board of County Commissioner's workshop agenda item on a "discussion of current and future county issues and EMS" is raising some eyebrows and led to a Facebook page "Save Our Levy Ambulances."

  • No fear, these prices are not near

     The construction crew for the new Murphy Express gas station on U.S. Highway 19 has been having fun with drivers. The price started at $5.55 and has climbed. This photo was taken on Friday, Jan. 28.  If you look closely, Murphy which brags about its discounted fuel prices, has a discount posted on the canopy above the pumps.

     The Luther Callaway Public Library is pleased to announce the arrival of 68 new children's books and 16 new math and science books for children. The new books were purchased by a grant that was funded by the Libri Foundation and The Friends Of The Luther Callaway Public Library.

  • AARP Tax-Aide begins on Friday

    Free tax preparation and E-file with AARP Tax Aide begins Friday, Feb. 4, at Luther Callaway Library in Chiefland.

    The AARP trained volunteers will be at the library on Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. until April 15, and, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays during the month of February.

     Florida  Attorney General Pam Bondi has issued an emergency ruling that substances containing MDPV (Methylenedioxypyrova-lerone), commonly known as "bath salts," have been added to the state’s schedule of controlled substances.
