  • Haven celebrates Fall at the Lodge

    Haven’s Fall at the Lodge, a benefit for Haven Hospice will take place from  5:30 – 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Gilchrist Club, a private hunting and sporting club set in the heart of Florida’s timberland, located at 290 SE 4th Way, Trenton. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with live music, along with a live and silent auction.   Reservations and tickets are required. The cost is $75 per guest.   • Stuff the Bus helps students, teachers

    The drive to Stuff the Buss with school supplies for students will be taking advantage of tax-free weekend as the Levy County Schools Foundation and Morriston Baptist Church's Band of Brothers set up collection stations inside stores. The collection pens, pencils, erasers, colored pencils, paper, pocket folders, spiral notebooks, crayons, permanent markers, washable markers, highlighters, dry erase pens, rulers, index cards, Post-it notes, scissors, washable glue, glue sticks, Kleenex,  hand soap, sanitizer, binders and backpacks is an annual back to school ritual in L

      Wednesday    SHINE volunteers can find  Medicare answers Seniors with questions about options for Medicare, Medicare/Medicaid, disability, supplemental insurance, Part D prescription drug plans, or Medicare billings can find answers with the help of SHINE volunteers. SHINE, a volunteer program with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, provides one-on-one counseling. SHINE provides free, unbiased and confidential assistance.

  • Pistol class funds holiday party

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a pistol class  from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18   This class will qualify individuals for a concealed carry permit.  The cost is $55 if registration is done online, or $60 on the day of the class.  To register online, go to www.levypistolclass.info.  This is a fund-raiser for the Sheriff’s Office Employee Christmas Party.

  • Woman arrested in theft of sales tax

     Mary Colson Bowen, 57, who owned Mary’s Little T restaurant in Chiefland, has been arrestedand charged with theft of more than $47,000 in sales tax collected from customers and not paid to the state, the Florida Department of Revenue announced.

  • Ducks Unlimited dinner on Thursday

    Tri-County Ducks Unlimited is having their annual banquet on Thursday, Aug. 19, at The Gilchrist Club in Trenton.  The doors open at 6 p.m. with cocktails and social from 6 to 7 p.m. and dinner at 7:15 p.m. The auction starts at 8 p.m.   Seating is limited to only 50 tickets which are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
