The annual Law Day celebration in some cities may be cause for serious seminars and a special Red Mass to ask God to provide spiritual guidance for those laboring in the judicial system.
But in Levy County it is cause for those in local, state and federal law enforcement, prosecution and court circles to gather for a couple of hours, swap stories and enjoy a fish fry on the shore of the Suwannee River at the Ottis Beauchamp River Home in Fowlers Bluff.

Florida farmers transitioning to organic systems as well as established organic producers now have an opportunity to apply for Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) Organic Initiative funding to assist their organic efforts.

Mother Earth News and even The New York Times had a piece about urban beekeeping on city roof tops. “Bee Movie,” was a hit for adults and kids alike. Some Florida municipalities are revising their zoning laws to accommodate small scale beekeepers.
There’s a new gang in town. And while some of its members have made the ‘A’ list, they’re all on the ‘bee’ list.
The Levy County Beekeepers Association was formed last week in Chiefland. About a dozen local residents came to the club’s first meeting where officers were appointed and membership dues, $20 per member, were collected.
Drummond Community Bank held its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Usher Park in Chiefland for its customers’ and employees’ families. Children were treated to a day of hunting for candy eggs and other activities as well as a grilled lunch. About 100-150 turned out for the annual event. This is the 19th year the bank has sponsored the event.
Here's a quick look at the 2011 varsity football schedules for Levy County's three high schools. A few games to note are Williston at Chiefland on Oct. 21, Dixie County at Chiefland on Oct. 28, Chiefland at Trenton on Nov. 11 and Trenton at Bronson on Oct. 7.

Linnie Beck and Anne Zubler will be hosting a Garden Party Luncheon for The Suwannee River Garden Club on Saturday, May 21, noon to 4 p.m.
The event will be held at the home of Anne Zubler. Club members should bring dishes to share that are in keeping with the theme of a "Garden Party". We expect to have approximately twenty five attendees.
A fancy hat contest will be judged by silent vote so everyone should dust off their finest millinery creations.
