First Baptist Church of Chiefland aired previews of the movie “Courageous” during its Father's Day Breakfast on June 18. The movie, in theaters Sept. 30, is about four police officers tackling their fears and their faith while learning lessons about what it takes to be a courageous dad. Pictured left, Stuart Wasson goes over scriptures and talks about steps to becoming a courageous father. More than 70 were in attendance and enjoyed a tasty breakfast that included biscuits and sausage gravy.
Several staff members of Manatee Springs State Park held a workshop for clients at the LARC facility in Otter Creek to close out the LARC in the Park educational trips for the season. Under the guidance of the park staff, LARC clients and staff visit the park weekly during the cooler months to learn about nature and the environment. Each clients who visits the park receives a junior ranger badge and Florida State Park certificate.
Two of the three men charged in the armed home invasion of a residence on County Road 335 — Northeast 75th Street — outside Williston in February have been sentenced while a third will be sentenced on July 6.
