Mr. and Mrs. James Burkett of Trenton announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Meghan Adayr Burkett of Chiefland to Jay Bolton of Chiefland.

The bride-elect graduated from Trenton High School and attended Central Florida Community College. She is employed by Fernwood Flowers and Gifts.

The future groom graduated from Bronson High School and Central Florida Community College (Ocala) where he received a degree in law enforcement. He is employed with the Chiefland Police Department as a K-9 officer.

A 44-year-old Chiefland man died March 10, when he was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Southwest Fourth Avenue west of Tenth Street in Chiefland, according to Florida Highway Patrol Cpl. Rodney Howard.

Michael Gene Allen was driving a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix LE south (west) on State Road 345 at a high rate of speed at about 7:35 Monday night, Howard said.

BRONSON - Attorneys for Florida and Chiefland have responded to 13 allegations Andy Dennis Andrews made as he seeks a declaration from a judge regarding his choice to register as a Chiefland voter.

Assistant Attorney General Sabrina E. Redd of the Office of Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum represents Florida Secretary of State Kurt Browning.

In her March 12 response, Redd said that Andrews "has failed to state a claim for which relief can be granted under the Declaratory Judgments Act."

BRONSON --- On March 11, Progress Energy Florida (PEF) asked the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) to allow two nuclear units in Levy County.

That same evening, PEF addressed the Levy Commission in regard to the Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Objections, Recommendations and Concerns (ORC). The county wants to amend the Levy County Comprehensive Plan and land use map, including a zoning change from Forestry/Rural Residential to Public Use for the 3,100-acre PEF nuclear site.
