BRONSON - When Renate Cannon asked if Levy County had discontinued its recycling trailer program, Landfill Director Benny Jerrels explained the situation during the March 4 County Commission meeting.

A problem with these trailers arises, Jerrels said, when people use them to dump household garbage there. When that happens, the trailers are removed from locations for a period of time or forever.

The recycle trailers have had tires stolen off of them and some people have even used them as a place to dump dead deer carcasses, Commission Chairman Sammy Yearty said.

BRONSON - Many were called but few were chosen March 3 when a jury trial started to decide monetary damages to be awarded in a 2002 civil circuit court case that reopened.

There were 150 people summoned to be jurors in the trial of Wesley versus Security Trust Plans, Circuit Court Clerk Danny Shipp told the prospective jurors that Monday morning.

From those 150 individuals, about half were excused by the judge before the start of selecting a jury. That brought the number to 73 possible jurors, Shipp said.

A couple of weeks ago, my husband I were riding bikes when we stopped at the little store in Gulf Hammock to get water. It's a regular stopping point for us and I was surprised when this Expedition limousine pulled up and a tall ( 7 feet, 1 inch) guy came in for a junk food stop.

I asked him how the weather was up there, and we began having a conversation.

He told me his name, said he had played basketball for the Miami Heat and the Philadelphia 76ers and was now retired.

He was on his way from Tallahassee to Tampa.
