CMS girls claim Cedar Key Invitational title

Chiefland Middle School’s girls continued its cross country dominance by winning the Cedar Key Invitational last Tuesday.

Emily Hallman won the race that featured the Lady Braves taking the top three spots. Five CMS girls finished in the Top 11 to power the team to 27 points, besting runner-up Branford by 11.

Hunting for a prescription drug plan is no game

It’s that time of year again.
“Open season” is right around the corner for the Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. Hunting down the best plan for you is no game. Newly eligible Medicare beneficiaries, and current beneficiaries who are considering changes to their Medicare Part D plan, should mark their calendars for October 15. The “open season” will run from October 15 to December 7.

Buck Mitchell Dove Shoot on Nov. 12

The Buck Mitchell Memorial Dove Shoot to benefit Haven Hospice will begin at 1 p.m. on Nov. 12.
The shot will be in Levy County, but the exact field that will be used has not been determined. The cost is $50 per person, and includes a T-shirt and a catered lunch.
There also will be door prizes and raffle items. All proceeds go to Haven Hospice.

CAAA Halloween Carnival is Oct. 29

The Chiefland Area Athletic Association is hosting its annual Halloween Carnival from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Strickland Park.
Admission is free to all people who enter wearing a costume. All others will be $2 each.
There will be plenty of games, food and a safe atmosphere to trick-or-treat. There will be a dunking booth, fish pond, greased pig, live fish, a shooting gallery, moon walks and much more. There also will be costume contest for all ages.
