Yankeetown has lost its challenge of Levy County's approval of the Tarmac King Road mining operation.
In a 287-word order, 8th Circuit Court Judge Robert E. Rountree Jr. dismissed the petition for a writ of certiorari— a judicial review — of the Levy County Commission's May 3 decision to approve the mine on a 4,750-acre site near Inglis. The company expects to mine at the rate of 25 acres per year for 110 years.
