  • Suspicious powder sent to Bronson attorney

    Monday's mail brought an unnerving surprise to Attorney Ronald W. Stephens and his staff at their Bronson office when an envelope yielded an unknown white/tan powder.

  • Crash in Raleigh sends 3 to hospital

    A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 41 and County Road 335 in the Raleigh community on Saturday at about 2 p.m. caused injuries serious enough to send three people to the hospital, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

    Lauren E. Strawn, 27, of Bronson, and her two passengers Emmalee Woodard, 9, and Lenla Fortner, 4, were transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Strawn and Woodard were taken by ambulance and

    Fortner was airlifted.

    Cynthia A. Allen, 64, of Williston, sustained minor injuries.

  • Sexual predator changes address

    Johnny Jerome King, 71, convicted in Alachua County in 2004 of lewd or lascivious molestation victim under 12 years offender 18 or older has registered a Williston address with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office. By Florida law King is required to notify law enforcement whenever he changes addresses.

    King's new address as: 17193 N.E. 40th St., Williston, Fl.

    He was sentenced to 10 years and has been serving probation since 2012.

  • Man found dead in home

    An ederly man was found dead wrapped in a blanket and with the heater running at his Northwest 168th Street home on Wednesday, according to the Levy County Sheriff's Office. 

    Lt. Scott Tummond said a physician was signing the death certificate due to the man's health problems and no foul play is suspected in the death. He confirmed the man had been dead for several days.

    A friend alerted the authorities to the death.  

  • Bronson man arrested on variety of drug charges

    A Bronson man is sitting in Levy County jail under $390,000 bond after the Levy County Drug Task Force arranged several drug buys making contact with the suspect in well known locations in Bronson and in East Williston.

  • Woman cited in accident

    A Chiefland woman was cited for careless driving and having an open container of an alcoholic beverage after a rear-ender shortly after midnight on Sunday on State Road 26 and County Road 307 in Gilchrist County.
