  • Sheriff's Reports

    Deputies with the Levy County Sheriff's Office and other officers recently arrested the following people. Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    _ Warren Frazier, 17, Gainesville, unarmed burglary with person inside, petit larceny. Bond $30,000.

    _ Dakorian Frazier, 16, Gainesville, unarmed burglary with person inside, petit larceny. Bond $11,000.

    _ Billy K. Swinford, 42, Inglis, driving while license suspended or revoked. Bond $5,000.

    _ Jimmy D. Lance, 36, Reagan, Tenn., possession of more than 20 grams cannabis. Bond $10,000.

  • Sting lands 24 in jail

    BRONSON - Back many moons ago, there was a cartoon series called "Superfriends" where crimefighters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman joined hands to battle evil.

    In a similar vein, the Levy County Sheriff's Department along with the Chiefland Police Department, the Dixie County Sheriff's Department and state and federal agencies joined forces to crack down on a major cocaine infestation.

    Details of the law enforcement effort were revealed at a press conference on Friday, April 18, at the Levy Sheriff's headquarters in Bronson

  • Two arrested in pot bust

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office-Chiefland Police Department Drug Task Force found more than it bargained for April 17 while attempting to serve an arrest warrant for a probation violation.

    When the task force arrived at 5511 N.E. 139 Terrace, Williston, they detected a strong odor of marijuana inside the residence. Agent Rob Bowers obtained a search warrant and upon its execution discovered an indoor grow house.

    Tiffany M. May, 25, of Williston was charged with two counts domestic battery. Bond $5,000.

    Jamie L. King, 27, of Bronson was charged with domestic battery. Bond $5,000.

    Sheena Marie Deenmark, 23, of Bronson was charged with one count domestic battery and one count battery. Bond $7,000.

  • Two raids lead to eight suspects' arrests in Fanning Springs and Chiefland

    BRONSON - A search warrant served at a Fanning Springs residence on recently netted eight people suspected of drug crimes on April 2.

    A subsequent raid in Chiefland on April 3 resulted in the arrest of another suspect, more cocaine, more cash and an assault rifle, according to Lt. Sullivan of the Levy County Sheriff's Office.

  • 21 convicted of felonies in Levy County

    BRONSON - There were 21 people convicted of felonies in Levy County from March 1 through March 31, according to records.

    Following are the people and the crimes for which they were convicted:

    * Alfredo Aragon, 21, of Newberry, grand theft of a vehicle.

    * Richard Blackshear, 24, of Newton, Ga., aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

    * Keith A. Colson, 46, of Chiefland, fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.

    * Dennis Malone Daniels, 23, of Dunnellon, possession of cocaine.

  • Sheriff's Report

    BRONSON - A traffic stop conducted by Levy County Sheriff's Deputy Jimmy Anderson on a 2007 Saturn reported stolen from Alachua County resulted in an arrest.

    Marcus Daine Bolden, 28, of Brunswick, Ga., was arrested for grand theft auto when Anderson stopped him just after midnight on March 27.

    A search of Bolden uncovered a small plastic bag with marijuana in it, Anderson said. Then the deputy found 31 pieces of crack cocaine in a white pill bottle.

    Officers with the Levy County Sheriff's Office recently arrested the following people. All people in the United States are presumed innocent of crimes until they are proved guilty in a court of law.

    * Zachary Allen Baggett, 16, of Bronson was arrested March 1 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft auto, theft, two counts of grand theft, armed burglary and three counts of burglary. The name of a juvenile charged with a felony in Florida can be published.

    * Wendy Barnhill, 35, of Williston was arrested March 1 for disorderly intoxication. Bond $500.

  • 27 convicted of felonies in Levy County

    BRONSON - There were 27 people convicted of felonies in Levy County from Feb. 1 through Feb. 29, according to records.

    Following are the people and the crimes for which they were convicted:

    * James Ausherman, 28, of Bronson, resisting arrest by using a vehicle to elude law enforcement officers.

    * Ronald J. Barwick, 50, of Vidalia, Ga., producing methamphetamine and possession of illegal chemicals.

    * Joseph Burnett, 46, of Cross City, burglary and grand theft.

  • Case reopens to determine damages

    BRONSON - Many were called but few were chosen March 3 when a jury trial started to decide monetary damages to be awarded in a 2002 civil circuit court case that reopened.

    There were 150 people summoned to be jurors in the trial of Wesley versus Security Trust Plans, Circuit Court Clerk Danny Shipp told the prospective jurors that Monday morning.

    From those 150 individuals, about half were excused by the judge before the start of selecting a jury. That brought the number to 73 possible jurors, Shipp said.
