  • Sheriff's Report & Most Wanted for March 20

     The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

  • Sexual predator changes address

    Johnny Jerome King, 71, convicted in Alachua County in 2004 of lewd or lascivious molestation victim under 12 years offender 18 or older has registered a Williston address with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office. By Florida law King is required to notify law enforcement whenever he changes addresses.

    King's new address as: 17193 N.E. 40th St., Williston, Fl.

    He was sentenced to 10 years and has been serving probation since 2012.

  • Man found dead in home

    An ederly man was found dead wrapped in a blanket and with the heater running at his Northwest 168th Street home on Wednesday, according to the Levy County Sheriff's Office. 

    Lt. Scott Tummond said a physician was signing the death certificate due to the man's health problems and no foul play is suspected in the death. He confirmed the man had been dead for several days.

    A friend alerted the authorities to the death.  

  • Bronson man arrested on variety of drug charges

    A Bronson man is sitting in Levy County jail under $390,000 bond after the Levy County Drug Task Force arranged several drug buys making contact with the suspect in well known locations in Bronson and in East Williston.

  • Woman cited in accident

    A Chiefland woman was cited for careless driving and having an open container of an alcoholic beverage after a rear-ender shortly after midnight on Sunday on State Road 26 and County Road 307 in Gilchrist County.

  • Court dispositions published March 13

    n Crystal Elaine Braswell, VOP on hit and run with crash involving injury, probation revoked, 270 days with credit for 98 days served. Must pay civil judgment, jail fund, VOP costs. 

    n Travis Wray Choina, battery, 2 months 11 days with credit for 71 days served; resisting officer with violence, adjudication withheld, 2 months 11 days with credit for 71 days served, 24 months probation; battery on officer, nolle pros.

     The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

  • Uncle helping niece dies in accident

    A Cross Creek man who was helping his niece from Bronson pull her vehicle out of a rut died after a vehicle in the opposite lane hit him on Thursday at 8:20 p.m. on State Road 121 near Alachua County Road 346, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report..

    Garrett H. Cutler, 59, was removing the chains used to pull a black 2004 Chrysler Sebring driven by Heather Crane, 19, of Bronson, from where it was stuck by the roadway. Crane's vehicle was sitting in the southbound lane and partially in the northbound lane of SR 121.

  • Chiefland fire competes in combat challenge

    Chiefland Fire Rescue’s combat team competed in the Scott Safety Firefighter combat challenge at the Daytona International Speedway recently before the start of the Daytona 500. 

  • Bronson Motel unsafe: officials

    The Bronson Motel is out of juice, according to comments made by Bronson officials Monday night.
