  • Two men charged with sex offense

    The Levy County Sheriff's Department has arrested and charged Willie T. Davis, 23,  and Johnnie Randal Williams, 18, with having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl, according to a press release.
    The contacts between the victim and Davis occurred in July on several different occasions, and the contacts with Williams occurred in May and June.
    Davis and Williams were arrested for lewd and lascivious battery on a child.
    The press release says both admitted to having a relationship with the girl.

  • Clerk arrested for organized fraud

    Randi Lynn Fumea, 22, of Chiefland was arrested and charged with dealing in stolen property and organized fraud on Sept. 22, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Department press release.
    Fumea was a clerk at the Tackle Box in Fanning Springs and the manager reported discrepancies with her cash drawer. 
    Investigator Roger Bell investigated and found within a 12-day period $ 2,033 in lottery tickets and cigarettes went missing. According to the release Fumea was stealing $1 to $ 20 lottery tickets and cashing the winning tickets at the store.

  • Man charged with drug purchase

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force has arrested a man on Sept. 22 for selling an officer posing as a drug dealer the pain reliever Roxicodone for $800 during a deal on East Park Avenue in Chiefland, according to a deparment press release.
    Rickey Mack Meeks, 52, of Chiefland, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance.  His bond is $50,000.

  • Alert citizen helps catch alleged burglar

    A concerned citizen's report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of Northeast 75th Street shortly after midnight  on Sept. 23  has resulted in the arrest of an Archer man on two counts of burglary, three counts of grand theft and three counts criminal mischief, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Department press release.
    When Deputy Ella Anderson arrived and spoke with the driver, Brandi Brock, the young woman said she was returning home to Archer after visiting a friend in the area and her car over heated.

  • Court Dispositions

    The following persons were sentenced, found not guilty or the case nolle pros — dropped — in the Criminal Division of the 8th Circuit Court in Levy County. The information is taken from public records. VOP means violation of probation.

    n Jimenez Hernandez, production of marijuana and possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, 180 days with credit for 3 days served and 36 months probation; possession of paraphernalia, 180 days with credit for 3 days served, served concurrently.

  • Chiefland Police Department Reports

    The Chiefland Police Department reports the following arrests:
    n Veronica M. Martin, 32, of Macon, Ga., was arrested on Sept. 10, for retail theft less than $300 from Walmart.
    n Samuel S. Deloach, 39, of Chiefland, was arrested on Sept. 12, for disorderly intoxication and for retail theft less than $300 from Walgreens.
    n Juan Carlos Boch, 23, of Old Town, was arrested on Sept. 12, for reckless driving and for driving without a license.

  • Sheriff's Report

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    n Juan Vianney Huerta-Alonso, 29, Bronson, arrested Sept. 18, no driver’s license. Released on own recognizance.
    n Jena Marie Hindsley, 22, Old Town, arrested Sept. 17, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended or revoked (DWLSR). Released on own recognizance.
    n Shannon Evelyn White, 34, Fanning Springs, arrested Sept. 17, Violation of Probation (VOP) larceny,  VOP criminal mischief and VOP resisting  without violence. Bond $3,000.

  • Sheriff's Reports

    BRONSON -The Levy County Sheriff's Office arrested the following persons. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All information is gathered from Sheriff's Office press releases, arrest reports and court appearance orders.

    Richard W. Hall, 48, Northwest 170 street, Trenton, burglary of structure and battery. Bail is $20,000.

    Jeffrey L. Underwood, 47, Northwest 170th Street, Trenton, principal in 1st degree burglary and two counts of battery. Bail is $20,000.

  • Sentences handed down

    Ronnie Kyle Boyette, violation of probation on aggravated battery against a person using a deadly weapon, probation revoked, 15 months with 210 days credit for time served, pay civil judgment and jail fund.

    Cantina Glover, 29, Northwest 157th Street, Trenton, violation of probation on sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of place of worship or school and possession of cocaine, probation revoked, 364 days with credit for 60 days time served on each charged, to be served concurrently and pay civil judgment and jail fund.

  • Nine charged in drug arrests

    Nine people, including a 73-year-old grandmother, her two daughters and granddaughter, were arrested in a drug roundup last week.

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office Drug Task force charged the nine with 21 felonies and four misdemeanors, while also conducting one warrant arrest. The drug buys occurred at 242 Pine St. and also within 100 feet from the Bronson Post Office property, according to a Sheriff's Office press release.

    A warrant was executed at Ethel Greenlee Brinson's residence at 242 Pine Street, the third time that has occurred.
