     The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

  • Court dispositions, May 5

     n Kimberly Carol Allen, larceny by theft between $300 and $5,000, 1 year seven days with credit for 40 days served. Must pay civil judgment and jail fund.

  • Sexual predator moves to Fanning

       John Henry McGhan, 42, a designated sexual predator, has moved from Michigan to 17210 N.W. U.S. Highway 19 Fanning Springs. 

       McGhan, also known as John Boy McGhan, was convicted in 1999 on three counts of lewd and lascivious molestation on a child. He is on parole until May 2012.

  • Court dispositions

    n Reginald Vintrell Adams, possession of synthetic narcotic with intent to sell changed to sale of synthetic narcotic, and sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of church or school, changed to possession of cocaine, 36 months with credit for 100 days on each, served concurrently. Must pay civil judgment and jail fund.

  • National Guard helps in pot bust

    Members of the Levy County Drug Task Force hitched a ride on an Army National Guard helicopter in an effort to locate illegal marijuana grows.
    On Friday, the task force made its first arrest as a result of the aerial inspection of Levy County.
    Capt. Danny Riffle, who has been spotting marijuana plants since 1983 and seized millions of dollars in the illicit weed, helped in the arrest of Mark O'Leary, 59, of Morriston.
    A raid in the area of Southeast 25th Street off of State Road 121 led to the confiscation of 247 marijuana plants.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    n July 20, Terry Lee Arnold, 38, Inglis, DWLSR. Bond $1,000.
    n July 28, Debbie Lynn Barfield, 57, Williston, DWLSR. Bond $1,000.
    n July 22, Rebecca Ann Blackerby, 24, Bronson, DWLSR. Bond $500.
    n July 23, Carl Thomas Butler, 38, Old Town, driving on permanently revoked driver’s license, out of county warrant. Bond $3,350.
    n July 18, Julio Callazo, 31, Inglis, domestic battery by strangulation. Bond $50,000.

  • Sexual offenders register addresses

       Two sexual predators and one sexual offender — Kevin Michael Schroeder, 48; Brian Michael Hodge, 30,  and Jose Saul Bruno, 42 — have each registered a new address with the Levy County Sheriff's Office.

  • Chiefland man arrested on sales tax charge

    Auto body repair shop owner James Ballengee, 46, of Chiefland is free on $5,000 bond after being arrested on a charge of taking more than $78,000 in state sales taxes from his customers and not passing it on to the state, according to the Levy County Sheriff's Office.

  • Blair trial delayed again

    The federal trial of former Levy County economic development director Pamela Williams Blair, indicted in one of a series of high-profile public corruption cases, has been postponed again from Aug. 1 to Oct. 17.
    The trial on a November 2008 indictment on one charge of lying to the FBI was originally set for early 2009, but has been delayed a number of times for various reasons. Blair has denied the charge.
