    n Jan. 28, Jeffrey Broederdorf, 31, out of county warrant, OWV. Bond $25,000.

    n Jan. 27, Jessica Ann Carver, 31, Morriston, DUI. Bond $10,000.

    n Jan. 19, Marvin Eugene Cooper III, 24, Williston, burglary. Bond $50,000.

    n Chastity Anderson, VOP on vehicle theft,  probation revoked, 36 months with credit for 44 days served. Must pay civil judgment and jail fund.
    n Mandy Ashley, VOP on four counts of forgery, one count of larceny between $300-$5,000, one count of burglary, one count of fraud by swindle  under $20,000, probation revoked, 36 months with credit for 179 days served on each, served concurrently. Must pay civil judgment and jail fund.

  • Darkness aids task force sweep

    Friday the 13th.
    Darkness falls on a secluded area far from prying eyes and the glare of city lights.
    In the darkness, members of the Williston Police Department, Chiefland Police Department and Levy County Sheriff’s Department marshal their forces.
    The darkness is occasionally interrupted by the glare of a laptop screen or cell phone.
    The reason for the clandestine meeting – area law enforcement members are preparing to raid a suspected “gambling house” in East Williston where drug dealing has already been confirmed.

    n Dana Marie Duff, possession of more than 20 grams marijuana, possession of controlled substance without a prescription and possession of paraphernalia, nolle pros; possession of marijuana with intent to sell and two counts of possession of controlled substance without a prescription. Adjudication withheld, 18 months drug offender probation, served concurrently. Must pay $250 fine.
    n Marvin L. Dunmore, lewd and lascivious molestation and indecent exposure to elderly or disabled person amended to felony battery repeat offender, 5 years probation. Must pay civil judgment.

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office reports the following arrests:
    n Jan. 9, Melissa L. Barclay, 37, Williston, three out of county warrants.
    n Jan. 10, Mark Byram Jr., 20, Cross City, out of county warrant.
    n Jan. 11, Shea Jacob Colson, 21, Gulf Hammock, burglary, grand theft. Bond $90,000.
    n Jan. 15, William Jensen Cottrell, 31, Williston, battery.
    n Jan. 10, Amanda Jean Douglas, 32, Morriston, eight VOP.
    n Jan. 13, Jermaine Levon Harris, 34, Williston, drug equipment and possession. Bond $2,500.

  • ATV deaths bring warnings

    In response to two deaths involving riders on ATVs (all-terrain vehicles) the Levy County Sheriff's Office has issued a reminder about laws governing the vehicles' use and offered some safety tips to prevent users from being a victim of an ATV accident.
    In 2006 the Florida Legislature passed a law allowing ATV's to be operated on any public roads or streets during the daytime hours on an unpaved roadway where the posted speed limit is less than 35 miles per hour by a licensed driver. 

  • Second AC theft suspect arrested

    A second man sought in the Dec. 27 theft of an air conditioner that was captured on the owner's game camera was arrested on Wednesday by Levy County Sheriff's Deputy Scott Stancil.
    Raymond Shiver, 26, of Morriston, joins his brother Alexander Matthew Shiver, 23, at the Levy County Jail on charges of  grand theft. The elder Shiver also faces a charge of resisting arrest without violence after he fled on foot from Stancil during a traffic stop in Williston.

  • Four arrested in home invasion, robbery 

    Four Williston men have been charged in the home invasion robbery, beating and attempted shooting of a Bronson man in his home while his mother, stepfather and two children, ages three and seven, were inside the home, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.
    Investigator Roger Bell arrested Christopher Pate, Jeovany Ortiz, Janiel Perez and Armando Perez on Saturday following a 911 call from the home.
