  • Deputies arrest "Puddin' Taine"

    When  Levy Sheriff's Deputy Jason Gallup responded to a residential alarm in Morriston he hardly thought about arresting a character from a children's nursery rhyme after a man who called to complain about the alarm and identified himself as "Puddin' Taine," according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.
    When Gallup arrived at the residence where the alarm was going off he spotted a white male on the property.  The man became agitated when Gallup asked his identity and claimed  he was "Puddin' Taine."

  • Fugitive, pal arrested after car chase

    A man wanted on charges in Alachua County who was hiding in Gilchrist County may have eluded a six-hour manhunt on Wednesday, but he was eventually caught when a friend tried giving him a ride into Levy County, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.
    Steven Allen Ross, 21, of Newberry, was sought by the North Florida Violent Fugitive Task Force, United States Marshal Service and Levy County Sheriff's Office on burglary and theft charges. He also has a history of escape in Columbia County.

  • Man arrested on violence charges — again

    Jimmie L. Mongo of Bronson, whose criminal record dates to 1975, was arrested Thursday on charges stemming from a violent attack on his ex-girlfriend and a  68-year-old man who came to her aid, according to a Levy County sheriff's press release.
    The latest arrest of Mongo follows a Jan. 24 arrest on battery charges. His bond at that time was $75,000.

  • 6 arrested on drug charges in Bronson

    Staff Report
    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force executed a search warrant and arrested six people on drug charges on March 19, according to a sheriff’s office press release.
    The arrests were the result of undercover purchases of methamphetamine in Bronson.

  • Man uses his head to wreck sheriff’s room interview room

    A man being questioned about a tool theft by Levy County Sheriff’s investigators used his head as a battering ram and tore up the interview room he was in and threatened the officers, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.
    Jonathan Jerome Sager, 20, of Bronson, who was on probation on burglary and theft charges, now faces  violation of probation, grand theft, dealing in stolen property, criminal mischief, resisting arrest without violence and corruption by threats to law enforcement officers charges.

  • Sheriff’s reports & Most Wanted for March 22

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    n March 13, Janette Aleksandrovic, 36, Hazelton, Pa., two counts possession methamphetamine, listed chemical for manufacture controlled substance, possession of drug equipment. Bond $185,000.
    n March 17, Michael Allen, 22, Fanning Springs, burglary, petit theft, altering public records. Bond $8,500.

  • Ocala man charged with fleeing

    Marshal Myrick Jr., 22, was arrested for fleeing and attempting to elude a police office, resisting arrest without violence and driving with a suspended driver's license on March 6 by Agent Burt Miller, according to a Levy Sheriff's Office press release.

  • Man charged in truck theft

    Brian Lloyd Sutherland, 47,  is charged with grand theft auto in connection with the theft of a 1995 white Dodge Dakota truck  from a Williston residence on March 8, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.
    Sheriff's Deputy Scott Stancil tracked footprints from the victim's home to Sutherland's residence, but Sutherland denied being involved.

  • Two arrested on multiple drug charges

    A woman who had her one-year-old infant in her truck while she and a man purchased oxycodone was arrested March 7 on child neglect and other charges along with her companion, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.
    The Levy County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force conducted an undercover drug operation in the Chiefland area that resulted in the arrest of Tracy James Smith, 37, of Alachua, and Kelly Michelle Colson, 26, of Fanning Springs

  • Sheriff’s reports & Most Wanted for March 15

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    n March 6, Jerry Donovan Arnold, 34, Inglis, two out of county warrants.
    n March 6, Lloy Frances Balboni, 42, Old Town, possession of drug equipment, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver, abuse without great harm to child, possession of controlled substance without a prescription. Bond $60,000.
    n March 9, Tiffany E. Berry, 40, Bronson, battery.
    n March 6, Clayton Thomas Cannon, 33, Dunnellon, out of county warrant.
