• Sheriff's Report & Most Wanted for the week of Aug. 18

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • Aug. 14, David Anthony Blevins, 30, Old Town, out of county warrant.

    • Aug. 9, Christopher Matthew Branson, 21, Old Town, DUI. Bond $2,500.

    • Aug. 8, Edgar Dewayne Burke, 28, Old Town, FTA. Bond $205.

    • Aug. 11, David Chilcote, 51, Williston, touch or strike. Bond $76,000.

    • Aug. 11. Camron Lee Dubose, 35, Darlington, SC, DUI, touch or strike. Bond $43,000.

  • Bronson man accused of having child porn

    A complaint to a federal probation officer has resulted in the arrest of a Bronson man on charges of possession of child pornography and witness tampering.

    Levi Jermaine Griffin, 39, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division on Aug. 12 after Griffin’s probation officer said he had information that Griffin was in possession of images of children on his computer. The probation officer said the person who complained believed the images were pornographic.

  • Sheriff donates horse to youth ranch

    A Paso Fino horse that was abandoned by its owner, an accused marijuana grower, has a new home at the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch in Live Oak courtesy of the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.

    The 2-year-old horse was seized by the Sheriff’s Office and the federal Drug Enforcement Admini-stration (DEA) in an old case and was the lone asset left from a large marijuana growing operation.

  • Home invasion was really delusion

    A Williston man who reported a home invasion at his Northeast 175th Avenue residence in Williston causing the Levy County Sheriff's Office to turn out in full force on Aug. 5 in an effort to save him.

    But when the deputies showed up and made their way into the home, they only found the man who admitted he had been using the drug “Molly” (Ecstasy) for three days, according to the arrest document.

  • Camera in ladies room at park leads to arrest

    A sex offender who has a previous conviction for video voyeurism has been charged with engaging in the same activity in the women's restroom at Fanning Springs State Park, according to a Levy County Sheriff's press release.

    And it was his face showing up on the video that led to his arrest. Ronald Alan Everett, 50, of Old Town, who confessed the camera was his, also has Levy Sheriff's investigators looking for other video cameras Everett indicated he placed in other public restrooms.

  • Branford woman dies on US 19

    A Branford woman died on Thursday, July 28, at 12:25 when her vehicle went off U.S. Highway 19 at State Road 24 in Otter Creek and overturned ejecting her, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.

  • Trenton man gets back lost wallet containing $902 thanks to Samaritan

    When Trenton resident Richard Brock Jr. visited the Chiefland Wal-Mart to purchase a pair of nail clippers for his dog on the night of July 4, it was about to be a much costlier trip than he could ever have imagined.

    Brock didn’t realize it when he grabbed his wallet before heading out, but it contained more than $900. When he arrived back at home, the wallet hadn’t made the return trip.

    He was sure he’d lost the money for good, even if his wallet were to eventually be returned.

  • Williston man arrested on sex charges

    A Williston man has been arrested on multiple charges of having sex with an underage girl and is being investigated for similar activity with a second underage girl, according to the Levy County Sheriff’s Office.

    Dillon Arnold Bird, 24, of Williston was arrested after Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Narayan and Investigator Mike Wilkinson met with the parent of a 17-year-old-female. The parent reported discovering evidence that the daughter had been involved in a sexual relationship with Bird.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • July 21, Wyatt Morgan Arrow, 18, Morrison, touch or strike, deprive means of protection or communication, possession of a controlled substance W/O a prescription. Bond $86.000.

    • July 18, David Lee Beech, 38, Trenton, VOP.

    • July 23, Michael Joseph Butler, 57, Crawfordville, DUI, refuse to submit to DUI test after LS, operating a motorcycle W/O license, DWLS-habitual. Bond $100,000.

    • July 20, Joseph William Clark, 42, Bronson, DWLS.

  • Accident closes road

    Drivers found themselves taking a detour to avoid Levy County Road 339 at U.S. Highway 27A after a fertilizer truck overturned on Thursday, July 21.

    While drivers are detouring to CR 339A this week due to piling repairs on a bridge, they took the detour a little early when the truck accident shut down the road.

    The truck driver, who was not identified, was transported for medical treatment. The Florida Highway Patrol has not released a report on the accident.
