  • Suspected meth dealer arrested

    A man walking along Southeast 144th Place near Inglis on Thursday, Sept. 17 about 2:30 a.m. got a ride to a place with beds and food, but it was not his expected destination as sheriff's deputies arrested him and transported him to the Levy County jail on drug charges.

    Patrick A. Lookingbill, 28, appeared to be intoxicated and Levy County Drug Task Force deputies stopped to check on his welfare.  They conducted a pat-down search of Lookingbill for weapons and recovered a folding knife. 

  • Traffic stop nets drug arrest

    Deputies from the Levy County Drug Task Force conducted a traffic stop on a 2005 model Ford dually truck for erratic driving after it had been spotted earlier at an inactive clandestine methamphetamine lab site.

    Deputies noticed the vehicle's driver Reinhard Bailey, 60, of Dunnellon had lye and two containers of Coleman camp fuel in plain view in the vehicle. Both substances are used in the process of illegally manufacturing methamphetamine.

  • Pedestrian on 19 suffers critical injuries in accident

    A pedestrian walking along U.S. Highway 19 south of Chiefland suffered critical injuries when he was struck by a sedan at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

    Oscar Ramirez, 42, of Chiefland, was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

    According to the report by FHP Trooper M.D. Geoffroy, Ramirez was walking south along US 19 near the white edge line. The portion of U.S. 19 was not lighted.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    •Sept. 18, Alicia Ruth Anderson, 27, Beverly Hills, FTA. Bond $2,000.

    •Sept. 16, Jonah Lee Arthur, 33, Bronson, cruelty to animals. Bond $10,000.

    •Sept. 17, Reinhard Bailey, 60, Dunnellon, drug possession, possession/and or use of drug equipment. Bond $90,000.

    •Sept. 18, Kartik Kishore Bose, 58, Chiefland, give liquor to individual under 21. Bond $2,000.

  • Pedestrian hospitalized after being hit by car

    A pedestrian walking along U.S. Highway 19 south of Chiefland suffered critical injuries when he was struck by a sedan at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

  • Sheriff's office wants your old prescription

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office in partnership with the Levy County Prevention Coalition and the Williston Police Department, will be participating in the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency's National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative.

    This year's event will be on Saturday Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sheriff's deputies will be present to accept all medications. There will be four collection sites available in Levy county. They are:

    •Sept. 8, Terry Lee Arnold, 42, Inglis, FTA, RW/OV. Bond $30,000.

    •Sept. 19, Otis Ray Bean, 53, Inglis, conditional release violation. Bond $100,000.

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office reports the following arrests:

    •Aug. 16, Cody Richard Adams, 22, Williston, VOP. No bond.

    •Aug. 13, Tirell Laryce Adams, 29, Deland, VOP.

    •Aug. 14, Jonah Arthur, 32, Bronson, VOP. Bond $250.

    •Aug. 13, Richard John Bumgardner, 35, Citrus Springs, burglary tools – possession with intent to use, grand theft. Bond $30,000.

    •Aug. 6, Marcus Kissinger Chever, 32, Chiefland, two counts VOP. No bond.

    •Aug. 3, Glenn Charles Chewning, 52, Trenton, battery. Bond $1,000.

    •Aug. 4, Austin Colby Colson, 20, Fanning, aggravated assault W/ deadly weapon W/O intent to kill. Bond $50,000.

  • Suspect sought in robbery

    Chiefland Police Department investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a person in reference to a burglary at the Chiefland Patriot Club on Friday, Aug. 7, at about 3 a.m.

    Police responded to a burglary alarm at the club at 313 S. Main St. where a window was broken.

    The person being sought is a male, weighing between 140-150 pounds and standing between 5’ 6’ and 5’ 9’ with multiple tattoos.
