  • Four arrested for drugs in Cedar Key

       Four people were arrested Tuesday for dealing drugs out of their Cedar Key homes, according to the Levy County Sherif's Office.  The arrests were the result of a three-month investigation, which was aided by information from a confidential source.
       The sheriff's department says Richard Cantlebarry and Geneva Harris were selling morphine pills out of their home, located at 517 2nd Street.

  • Man dies while cast fishing

       A Newberry man casting for fish in the Suwannee died after becoming entangled in the cast net he was using off a dock.
       The Dixie County Sheriff's Office said the family of Chad Eric Holder, 36, reported finding his body in a canal behind their residence on Saturday, Oct. 14.

  • Sexual predators move

     Shawn Lorenzo Wideman Sr., 36, convicted in Virginia in 2007 for sexual battery on a child and lewd and lascivious molestation on a child, has moved to 723 Pennsylvania Ave., Bronson. He notified the Levy County Sheriff's Office of the address change as he is classified as a sexual predator in Florida.  For a complete listing of all registered sexual predators and offenders residing in Levy County please visit www.fdle.state.fl.us.

  • Sheriff's Report for Sept. 30

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    n Arthur Paul Carrozza, 29, Bronson, arrested Sept. 27, DUI. Bond $5,000.
    n Kelly Michelle Colson, 26, Trenton, arrested Sept. 21, housing for Gilchrist County.
    n Jerry Austin Cox, 55, Cross City, arrested Sept. 20, Violation of Probation (VOP)–possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. No bond.
    n Jamie Dianne Craig, 49, of Gainesville, arrested Sept. 20, burglary of a structure conveyance unarmed without person inside and petit  larceny. Bond $15,000.

  • Two men charged with sex offense

    The Levy County Sheriff's Department has arrested and charged Willie T. Davis, 23,  and Johnnie Randal Williams, 18, with having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl, according to a press release.
    The contacts between the victim and Davis occurred in July on several different occasions, and the contacts with Williams occurred in May and June.
    Davis and Williams were arrested for lewd and lascivious battery on a child.
    The press release says both admitted to having a relationship with the girl.

  • Clerk arrested for organized fraud

    Randi Lynn Fumea, 22, of Chiefland was arrested and charged with dealing in stolen property and organized fraud on Sept. 22, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Department press release.
    Fumea was a clerk at the Tackle Box in Fanning Springs and the manager reported discrepancies with her cash drawer. 
    Investigator Roger Bell investigated and found within a 12-day period $ 2,033 in lottery tickets and cigarettes went missing. According to the release Fumea was stealing $1 to $ 20 lottery tickets and cashing the winning tickets at the store.
