    n Feb, 3, David Lee Beech, 34, Chiefland, operate motor vehicle WO valid license. Bond $1,000
    n Jan. 30, Jay Carlton, 58, Chiefland, DWLSR. Bond $2,000
    n Feb. 1, Amanda Marie Crespo, 25, Williston, battery. Violation of injunction protection domestic violence. Bond $5,500

  • Sexual predator address change

    Raymond Eli Wortham, convicted in 2006 of sexual battery on a child in Duval County, has moved to Levy County from Jacksonville.
    Wortham, 37, is living at 11631 N.E. 105th Ave., Archer.

  • Court dispositions published Feb. 9

    n Reginald Ventrell Adams, resisting an officer with violence and possession of more than 20 grams marijuana, nolle pros; resisting arrest without violence and battery, 180 days with credit for 50 days served, served concurrently. Must pay civil judgment and jail fund.
    n  Melvin Alday, sale of synthetic narcotic, adjudication withheld, 5 years probation; trafficking in controlled substance, nolle pros. Must pay $218.50 cost of investigation.

  • Teen arrested in rifle theft

       A home security system video has led to the arrest of a Williston teen in connection with a Jan. 30 break-in at a Williston home and the theft of a loaded SKS rifle, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.
       Brandon Cole Pickel, 17, of Williston, was arrested by Sgt. Mike Narayan after Williston  School Resource Officer Sgt. Max Long and Deputy Scott Stancil  identified the person seen carrying an object wrapped in a blanket away from the home as Pickel. The rifle was recovered and returned to the owner.

    n Jan. 27, Daries Cody Carter, 25, Chiefland, out of county warrant. Bond $1,300.
    n Jan. 27, Jessica Ann Carver, 31, Morriston, DUI. Bond $10,000.
    n Jan. 24, Montrez Lamont Charles, 23, Ocala, VOP. Bond $5,000.

    n Jan. 18, Matthew Hastin Bryant, 24, Williston, petit theft, altering public record. Bond $25,000.
    n Jan. 19, Marvin Eugene Cooper III, 24, Williston, burglary. Bond $50,000.
    n Jan. 20, Mikell W. Dixon, 33, Bronson, out of county warrant.

    n Chastity Anderson, VOP on vehicle theft,  probation revoked, 36 months with credit for 44 days served. Must pay civil judgment and jail fund.
    n Mandy Ashley, VOP on four counts of forgery, one count of larceny between $300-$5,000, one count of burglary, one count of fraud by swindle  under $20,000, probation revoked, 36 months with credit for 179 days served on each, served concurrently. Must pay civil judgment and jail fund.

  • Darkness aids task force sweep

    Friday the 13th.
    Darkness falls on a secluded area far from prying eyes and the glare of city lights.
    In the darkness, members of the Williston Police Department, Chiefland Police Department and Levy County Sheriff’s Department marshal their forces.
    The darkness is occasionally interrupted by the glare of a laptop screen or cell phone.
    The reason for the clandestine meeting – area law enforcement members are preparing to raid a suspected “gambling house” in East Williston where drug dealing has already been confirmed.

Adjudication withheld, 18 months drug offender probation, served concurrently. Must pay $250 fine.
    n Marvin L. Dunmore, lewd and lascivious molestation and indecent exposure to elderly or disabled person amended to felony battery repeat offender, 5 years probation. Must pay civil judgment.
