    n March 11–Emily Jane Atkinson, 32, Monticello, larceny theft. Bond $10,000.
    n March 12–Richard John Bumgardner, 31, Dunnellon, grand theft and burglary possession of tools. Bond $5,000.
    n March 12–Matthew Thomas Deitz, 24, Dunnellon, grand theft and burglary possession of tools. Bond $16,000.
    n March 12–Joe Mitchell Gunn, 45, New Port Richey, domestic battery. Bond $10,000.
    n March 8, Jeffery Charles Henson, 22, Old Town, VOP grand theft.

  • Levy County Sheriff's reports and most wanted March 10

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    • March 1, Ronnie Mac Brooks, 62, Williston, DUI and DWLSR. Bond $25,000.
    • March 6, James Brian Brunelle, 24, Bronson, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts worthless checks and RWOV. Bond $14,000.
    • March 5, Walter Alexander Burns, 39, Chiefland, disorderly intoxication, RWOV, assault on a law enforcement officer. Bond $45,000.
    • March 2, Michael Allan Craig, 49, Archer, domestic battery. Bond $2,000.

  • Driveway paving scams on upswing

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office says there is a rise in driveway paving scams in Levy County, according to a press release.

    These scams have been focusing on the elderly and people on a limited or fixed income. The persons come in and inform the victim that “we have a deal for you.” They tell the homeowner that they have “just enough asphalt left over from another job.”

  • Pistol class to support Haiti mission trip

     A pistol class to qualify individuals for a concealed weapons permit and to raise funds for the First Baptist Church of Bronson youth mission trip to Haiti this summer will be 8 a.m.-1 p.m., March 12. This class is hosted by the Levy County Sheriffs Office and will take place in the LCSO Classroom, 9150 N.E. 80th Ave., Bronson. The cost is $55 in advance, $60 the day of the class.   • Duo decides river too frigid for getaway

     Two suspects in a Gilchrist County burglary tried to evade capture by jumping into the Suwannee River, but the water's cold temperature made them re-think that plan and they surrendered, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.

  • Prostitution arrest made in Bronson

     Ashley Avis Wilcox, 23, of Bronson was arrested on Feb. 18 by Agent Burt Miller  of the Levy County Sheriff's Office Drug Task Force and charged with prostitution, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.

    Her arrest came after the sheriff's office received complaints about a woman, and officers set up a sting operation that involved Miller offering Wilcox $50 at the Bronson Post Office in exchange for sex.
