• Daytime burglaries cross county lines

    Levy County and surrounding counties have been experiencing a trend in daytime burglaries. Homes in rural areas are being forced into and ransacked by unknown suspect(s). The burglars are taking guns, jewelry and cash as well as other valuables.

  • Sheriff's Report & Most Wanted for the week of March 31

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office reports the following arrests:

    •March 23, Rachel Marie Anderson, 36, Trenton, out of county warrant. Bond $500.

    •March 22, Joseph William Brooks, 62, Morriston, possession of weapon or ammo by convicted felon, cause cruel death pain and suffering to an animal. Bond $40,000.

    •March 25, Rashey Lava Garrison, 28, Gainesville, out of county warrant. Bond$100,000.

  • Sheriff's Report & Most Wanted for the week of March 24

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office Reports the following arrests:

    •March 16, Jacoby Uriah Anderson, 23, Williston, criminal conspiracy, two counts property damage criminal mischief, two counts burglary, grand theft. Bond $235,000.

    •March 16, Melvin William Anderson, 30, Williston, criminal conspiracy, two counts criminal mischief property damage, burglary, grand theft. Bond $135,000.

    •March 20, Santos Bautista, 25, Morriston, operate motor vehicle W/O valid license. ROR.

  • Chiefland finally gets its man

    On March 3 Chiefland Police Department officers and Levy County Sheriff's deputies were called to Walmart, 2201 N. Young Blvd. in Chiefland by employees in reference to a suspect, Phillip Morgan, 31, who had previously fled from CPD officers investigating a theft case in December 2015.

    Officers were advised Morgan had an active arrest warrant out of Hillsborough County for violation of probation.

  • Sexual predator address notification in Chiefland

    On March 3, William R Hickman registered as a sexual predator with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office. By Florida law Hickman is required to notify law enforcement whenever he changes addresses.

    Hickman, 65, was convicted in 2013 in Gilchrist County for lewd and lascivious molestation on a child between 12 and 15 years of age

    He new address is 3650 N.W. 105 St., Chiefland.

    •March 2, Anthony Ryan Adams, 32, Fort Pierce, out of county warrant. No bond.

    •March 5, Acxel Manuel Aguilar Galindo, 25, Trenton, operate motor vehicle W/O valid license.

    •March 3, Carlos Alonzo Allen, 43, Bronson, VOP. ROR.

    •March 3, Eric Berry, 47, Naples, non support of children or spouse, out of county warrant. Bond $670.

    •March 1, Trent Taylor Blair, 21, Williston, VOP. No bond.

  • Man arrested in online stalking

    An online relationship between a Levy County resident and a Bradford County man blossomed into more than a short term romance when it ended for her, but the man continued calling numerous times a day, detail what she was doing and even got into her home, according to a Levy County Sheriff's office press release. 

  • Sheriff's Report & Most Wanted for the week of Feb. 25

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office reports the following arrests:

    •Feb. 19, Reinhard Bailey, 60, Dunnellon, possession of controlled substance W/O prescription. Bond $10,000.

    •Feb. 19, Vincent L. Baker, 19, Crystal River, burglary, grand theft, possession of a controlled substance W/O prescription, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and/or use. Bond $42,000.

    •Feb. 21, James Bradford, 31, Williston, out of county warrant.

  • Biker dies in crash

    A Williston man died when his 2007 Suzuki Bandit motorcycle missed a curve and crashed through a fence at a retention pond at County Road 102 North and U.S. Highway 27A, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

    The report said the accident happened at midnight, but James Layton, 49, was not found until after daylight and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    He was westbound on CR 102 approaching a sharp left hand curve when the bike continued straight on to the grass shoulder, hitting the pond fence and ejecting Layton onto the ground.

  • Man charged in sexual battery of child

    Levy County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested Mariano Hernandez-Castro, 44, on Feb. 17, and have charged him with sexual battery of a child under 12 and lewd or lascivious molestation of a child under 12. Hernandez-Castro appeared before Levy County Judge Browning who set his bond at $1.75 million dollars.

    Sheriff's Investigator Cpl. Tom Martin received a report on Feb. 16 from the parent of an 8-year-old that the child had disclosed being sexually battered during visits to the Hernandez-Castro home.
