    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

  • New deputy hired

     Levy County Sheriff Bobby McCallum administers the oath to new Sheriff's Patrol Deputy Keagon Weatherford.

    The ceremony was held July 22 at the Levy County Sheriff's Office training room. 

  • Bronson home fire kills pets

      Firefighters battle a fire that broke out Friday in a Bronson Home. Four fire departments, as well as Levy County Animal Control and the sheriff’s department were on scene.

    Smoke alarms, according to a Levy County Department of Public Safety press release, alerted the the two residents inside. Nobody was injured in the blaze, though two pet dogs died.

    INGLIS — The town commission has cemented what was set into motion in Marchwhen citizens in this southern Levy County hamlet voted to scrap their police and fire services and hand the work to the county.

    In a special meeting on Thursday, the Inglis Town Commission voted 3-2 to award the sheriff’s office a law enforcement contract that runs through 2017.

  • Sexual predator registers in Williston

    Robert Lewis Jr., a registered sexual predator, has informed the Levy County Sheriff's Office of his address at 21161 N.E. 35 St., Williston.

    Lewis, 39, was sentenced to 12 years on sexual battery and robbery convictions in 2005 in Alachua County. He is on community control status, which imposes the wearing of an electronic device and rules on his activities and a curfew.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Department reports the following arrests:
    • July 12, Dakorian Kadeem Frazier, 21, Newberry, VOP.
    • July 9, Shellie Haas Fry, 43, Morriston, out of county warrant.
    • July 12, Nicholas Scott Genco, 34, Summerfield, FTA DWLSR. Bond $50,000.
    • July 9, Joshua Alanob Gross, 25, Old Town, grand theft. Bond $25,000.
    • July 10, Robert Creason Hobby, 33, Williston, DWLS, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Bond $20,000.

  • Pedestrian is county's 11th traffic death in 2013

    A pedestrian who died ofas the result of an accident shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday about a mile north of Bronson became Levy County's 11th traffic fatality for 2013, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report ont he accident.

    Kaleb Carter, age unknown, was pronounced dead at the accident scene by Levy County Emergency Medical Service personnel.
