    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

  • Self defense class for women Saturday

    The Rape Aggression Women's Physical Defense program (R.A.D.) will take place Saturday, Sept. 14 and Saturday, Sept. 21, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the College of Central Florida Levy Center at 114 Rogerts Blvd., in Chiefland.

  • Arrest reports and Most Wanted, week of 8-29-2013

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    • Aug. 19, David Charles Albritton, 38, Morriston, VOP battery.
    • Aug. 23, Cody James Blair, 22, Bronson, FTA, battery. Bond $31,000.
    • Aug. 25, Brian Lee Bowmer, 25, Old Town, disorderly intoxication. Bond $500.
    • Aug. 20, Joseph Jay Brocato, 49, Tampa, non support of children or spouse.
    • Aug. 21, Ryan Bullard, 25, West Palm Beach, battery.
    • Aug. 22, Gary Colon, 55, Williston, burglary, obstruction W/OV, theft. Bond $60,000.

  • One dead, one wounded in dispute

    A man who was served with a restraining order last week is dead after returning to the home he once shared with a woman and another man and getting into a shootout that left the other man wounded, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Department press release.

    A man who was served with a restraining order last week is dead after returning to the home he once shared with a woman and another man and getting into a shootout that left the other man wounded, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Department press release.

    John Paul Robinson, who has a criminal record dating back to 1977 according to the Florida Department of Corrections, is dead of a shotgun wound to his upper left shoulder. The other man in the incident is hospitalized with wounds to his lower extremities.

  • Firefighters get training on handling vehicle fires

    Levy County Department of Public Safety Firefighters from Station 2 in Morriston, Station 4 in Fowlers Bluff, Station 5 in Rosewood, Station 6 in  Yankeetown, and the Bronson Fire Department took advantage of the New Public Safety Complex to train on passenger vehicle fire suppression tactics. 

  • Deputies have chainsaws for emergencies

    Levy County Emergency Management Director Mark Johnson presents Levy County Sheriff McCallum with four battery-operated chain saws to outfit deputies for storm situations. This new purchase resulted from a suggestion from Deputy Jeremy Dean.

  • Summer safety event in Bronson

    On July 30, about 25 children from Bronson, Chiefland and Williston gathered at the Bronson Youth League Park for a safety program.  The program was designed to educate our local children on various safety topics.  The Town of Bronson Parks and Recreation Department sponsored and hosted this summer children's program, and it is under the direction of Bronson Council Member  Beatrice Roberts and Director Curtis Stacy.
