  • Summer safety event in Bronson

    On July 30, about 25 children from Bronson, Chiefland and Williston gathered at the Bronson Youth League Park for a safety program.  The program was designed to educate our local children on various safety topics.  The Town of Bronson Parks and Recreation Department sponsored and hosted this summer children's program, and it is under the direction of Bronson Council Member  Beatrice Roberts and Director Curtis Stacy.

  • Staying prepared

    Recently, Levy County Sheriff’s Office Deputies attended additional specialized training at Bronson High School in preparation for the 2013-2014 school year.  

    The training was designed to simulate responding to threats in a school campus setting and is part of ongoing scenario based training for all Levy County Schools.  

    This training was done with the cooperation of School Superintendent, Bob Hastings and incorporates instructional sessions between LCSO and our teachers.

     n Joseph Ray Ainsworth, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, 364 days with credit for 99 days served, 4 years probation. Must pay civil judgment, jail fund. 

  • Bronson man cited in crash

    A Bronson man was cited for DUI and careless driving following an accident on U.S. 129, north of  County Road 232 in Gilchrist County on July 29 at 7:45 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

  • New deputy hired

     Levy County Sheriff Bobby McCallum administers the oath to new Sheriff's Patrol Deputy Keagon Weatherford.

    The ceremony was held July 22 at the Levy County Sheriff's Office training room. 

  • Bronson home fire kills pets

      Firefighters battle a fire that broke out Friday in a Bronson Home. Four fire departments, as well as Levy County Animal Control and the sheriff’s department were on scene.

    Smoke alarms, according to a Levy County Department of Public Safety press release, alerted the the two residents inside. Nobody was injured in the blaze, though two pet dogs died.

    INGLIS — The town commission has cemented what was set into motion in Marchwhen citizens in this southern Levy County hamlet voted to scrap their police and fire services and hand the work to the county.

    In a special meeting on Thursday, the Inglis Town Commission voted 3-2 to award the sheriff’s office a law enforcement contract that runs through 2017.
