  • Drug team shuts Bronson meth lab

    Levy County Drug Task Force Investigators responded to 9590 N.E. 78 Lane in Bronson to investigate a possible clandestine methamphetamine lab.  Investigators made contact with the home owner, Joseph Heath Morgan, 39, who agreed to speak with the investigators. 

  • Ambulance, vehicle lose side mirrors

    Two vehicles crossed paths on a bridge on State Road 40 on Sunday, April 19, at 10 a.m. and each came away with a damaged side mirror, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

    No one was injured and no one was ticketed in the accident because fault could not be determined.

    • April 14, Jarrod Allen Beckham, 35, Archer, non support of children or spouse. Bond $500.

    • April 16, Ronald Robert Buschoff, 42, Fanning Springs, capital sexual battery.

    • April 16, Dean William Blubaugh, 63, Bronson, aggravated assault. Bond $10,000.

    • April 16, Ehren Michael Brown, 36, Williston, out of county warrant. Bond $4,160.

    • April 14, Daryl Terrell Dallas, 23, Williston VOP. Bond $250.

  • Robber ignores clerk's advice

    A woman robber, who claimed to have a gun and a bomb, attacked a clerk at Smoke & Spirits Liquor Store on U.S. Highway 19 in Chiefland after he bravely told her, “You don't want to do this for a little bit of money.”

  • Man arrested on sex charge

    A joint investigation by the Gilchrist and Levy County Sheriff's Offices has resulted in the arrest of a Fanning Springs man and a request by both sheriffs that anyone with information on his activities come forward.

    Ronald Robert Bischoff, 43, of Fanning Springs, is charged with three counts of capital sexual battery and one count of lewd or lascivious exhibition. He was booked into the Gilchrist County Jail with no bond on the capital sexual battery counts and $100,000 bond on the lewd or lascivious exhibition charge.

    • April 8, Hugo Alberto Alvarez-Quintana, 28, Morriston, battery. Bond $25,000.

    • April 11, Roni Emiliano Cano, 27, Cross City, no DL. ROR.

    • April 12, Mitchell Chaddock, 49, Bronson, 49, battery.

    • April 9, Amanda Dora Cofield, 27, Chiefland, VOP. Bond $20,000.

    • April 10, Maddie Lynette Cryer, 28, Crystal River, two counts FTA. Bond $4,000.

    • April 9, James Jason Deloach, 37, Old Town, VOP.

  • Fanning man arrested on sex charge

    A joint investigation by the Gilchrist and Levy County Sheriff's Offices has resulted in the arrest of a Fanning Springs man and a request by both sheriffs that anyone with information on his activities come forward.

  • Two die in Williston wreck

    Two Williston men died Saturday following an accident that occurred around 6:30 p.m. on US 27A and NE 40th Street.

    According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Curtis Leon Dallas, 32, and Rickey Thurline Wilcox, 55, both of Williston were traveling in the southbound lane of US 27A. Witnesses told the FHP that Dallas, the driver of a 2001 Geo Prizm, was traveling at a high rate of speed when he collided with the 2003 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Deborah Hammonds Bouchard, 58, of Williston.

  • Sex offenders return to jail

    Five convicted sex offenders were arrested April 1 after the Levy County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Parole and Probation and the United States Marshal’s Sex Offender Investigation Branch conducted compliance checks on registered predators/offenders in Levy County.

    The purpose of these checks are to ensure the registered offenders are complying with their probation conditions. Some offenders are prohibited from having internet access or even possessing a cell phone.

    • April 5, David Paul Cox, 35, Chiefland, DWLS.

    • March 31, Christopher Thomas Davis, 40, Williston, fraud/swindle. Bond $25,000.
