    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • Aug. 2, Joey Berry, 26, Trenton, open container, possession of drug equipment. Bond $1,000.

    • July 30, Dany Noa Betancourt, 28, Cape Coral, out of county warrant.

    • July 29, Wilbur Dwight Bilyou, 32, Williston, non support of spouse or children. Bond $820.

    • Aug. 3, LW Brown, 19, Bronson, no DL, possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Victim Advocate Mallory Hartley, center, was honored on her last day at the Levy County Sheriff's Office by her co-workers.

    She is pursuing another job opportunity.

  • Sheriff releases sketch of suspect

    A composite sketch of a man sought in a possible child abduction in Inglis on July 31 has been released by the Levy County Sheriff's Office.

    A 10-year-old girl reported being approached by a man while walking to a friend's home on Maple Street in Inglis on Thursday, July 31, at about 12:20 p.m. She said a white Chevy S-10 with rust spots driven by a white male passed her, then the driver — described as bald with a goatee and rotting teeth — pulled alongside, opened the passenger door, motioned to her and said “Come in.”

  • Sheriff's Report & Most Wanted for the week of August 14

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • Aug. 4, William Michael Carryer, 19, Bronson, VOP.

    • Aug. 4, Rhiannon Cribbs, 20, Morriston, grand theft. Bond $20,000.

    • Aug. 5, Chad Alexander Cumbo, 30, Bronson, VOP.

    • Aug. 5, Jessie James Eichelberger, 44, Williston, battery on person age 65 or older. Bond $50,000.

    • Aug. 8, Blake Fontana, 20, Morriston, four out of county warrants. Bond $100,000.

  • County's newest firefighters get bunker gear

    The Northwest Florida Volunteer Firefighter Weekend Council, Inc. was awarded a FEMA Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant to help volunteer fire departments in Florida recruit and retain firefighters by awarding bunker gear to their eligible new recruits.

    Levy County Department of Public Safety (LCDPS) Director David Knowles contacted the Council to obtain new gear for the 10 new Firefighter I Recruits from local Departments who recently completed the 2013-2014 LCDPS Firefighter I program.

  • Drug task force makes six cases in Inglis

    Deputies from Citrus and Levy counties, working as the Citrus/Levy Drug Task Force, made several seizures of drugs and other evidence in the Inglis area including opening six new cases based on evidence they had recovered. 

    The deputies located and dismantled two clandestine methamphetamine labs that had been previously in operation.

    They also seized 14 cannabis plants that were being cultivated in three different locations.  Charges for the manufacture of cannabis are pending against one individual at this time. 

  • Driver sought in hit-and-run

    A driver who hit a man who had been ejected from his vehicle onto U.S. Highway 19 just south of Northwest 147th Place after another accident on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2:50 a.m. is being sought by the Florida Highway Patrol and the public is being asked to help.

    An FHP report by Trooper M.A. Kennard said a witness described the vehicle as a white car, possibly a Ford Taurus.

  • Morriston crash injures 1

    A New Port Richey woman sustained seruous injuries and was transported by air to Shands Hospital in Gainesville after a collision on Southeast 160th Avenue I Morriston on Sundayat 7:15 p.m.

    Pamela Coulter, 68, was driving north on a 2013 Kawasaki Mile (side by side) . In the lane behind her was a 2004 Chevrolet pickup driven by Darren Washburn, 19, of Williston.

  • Teens arrested in theft, arson

    Levy County mud boggers may have been upstaged July 19 by a couple of out-of-town teenagers with a unique flare for the sport, according to Chiefland police.

    On July 20, Andrew Hooks Murray, 18, of Saint Petersburg, and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested by CPD officers when the teens, reported by locals as acting suspicious, were found in possession of stolen items.

    Murray had given police a fake name, but his identity was discovered when authorities found his driver's license on him.
