  • Duo charged in gun theft

    An elderly Chiefland resident who helped a couple he believed were having car trouble was repaid for his kindness with a burglary that included taking his firearms, according to the Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • Oct. 16, Jason Eric Adams, 21, Inglis, felony battery, offender knew/should have known victim was pregnant, FTA. Bond $35,500.

    • Oct. 10, Amber Lynn Allard, 34, Bronson, FTA. Bond $500.

    • Oct. 13, Joseph A. Anderson, 33, Newberry, VOP.

    • Oct. 11, Dillon Arnold Bird, 24, Williston, interference with custody of minor or incompetent person

    • Oct. 14, Raymond Allen David Brown, 19, High Springs, out of county warrant.

  • Wrong passing move nets arrest

    A Dixie County deputy on patrol on Northeast 349 Highway around 2 p.m. on Oct. 3 noticed a car with two people inside pass another vehicle on the grass shoulder of the road while traveling north.

  • Man arrested for burglaries in Chiefland

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office says it has solved a string of burglaries in the Chiefland and Fanning Springs areas with the arrest of an Old Town man.

    Norman “Ashley” Burnett, 39, is in the Levy County Detention Facility with a $150,000 bond, according to a Sheriff's Office press release.

    Burnett first became a person of interest when the Juice Box, in Fanning Springs, was burglarized on Oct. 4. The owner reported approximately $900 worth of merchandise had been stolen when the burglar broke through a window.

  • Gun theft yields new arrest — a buyer

    The arrest of two people charged with the theft of guns from an elderly Chiefland person has led to another arrest — a man accused of buying the guns.

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday evening that Daniel Delaney, 44, of Chiefland on charges of dealing in stolen property and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Delaney became a suspect following the Wednesday, Oct. 14, arrests of Gary Vanwinkle and Samantha Corbin.

  • 6 juveniles arrested for burglary, theft

    Six Fanning Springs juveniles were arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 27, by LCSO Patrol Deputies after responding to a burglary scene at 7991 N.W. 168 Lane in Fanning Springs. LCSO Deputies C. Gregory and A. Hiers met with the victim who reported approximately $2,200 of electronics, silver coins and other valuables stolen from her home between Sept. 23-26. The victim immediately cast her suspicions on some neighborhood juveniles and provided deputies with some proof supporting her suspicion.

  • Teen arrested on child porn charge

    A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged with having sex with a 15-year-old, videoing it and sending one video to the girl's new boyfriend, according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.

  • Sex predator registers in Williston

    Carlos Lanard Anthony, 35, has registered as a sexual predator with the Levy County Sheriff’s Office. Anthony is required by state law to notify law enforcement whenever he changes addresses.

    Anthony was convicted in 2005 in Pineallas County of lewd and lascivious molestation on a child under age 12. Anthony has registered his temporary change in address as: 11571 N.E. 65 Lane Williston.

    • Sept. 6, Jeffrey Baggett, 41, Bronson, out of county warrant. Bond $500.

    • Sept. 7, Chuck Emerson Best, 46, Old Town, dealing in stolen property. Bond $30,000.

    • Sept. 6, Rhonda Kay Blaire, 53, Williston, out of county warrant.

    • Sept. 7, David Blevins, 30, Old Town, burglary not structure or conveyance. Bond $500.

    • Sept. 11, Ernest G. Brown, 61, Williston, using a deadly weapon. Bond $100,000.
